No, come on, as Martin has said, the owner wants his bike original & fair play to him.
Its alright for you lot to take the rise but to restore one of these to as it came out of the factory takes a lot of work.
And to be fair, most restored bikes are about 90% better quality because they haven't just come out of the factory.
The big K never put as much time & devotion into making the bloody things as we put into improving them

No, come on chaps, this is Martins thread.
And I truly believe we all have something to learn from what Martin does.
There are a lot of people out there who want to return their bikes to original & what Martin is posting is gold.
I for one am watching this post with interest, for instance I had no idea there was a bracket that held the rear shock hose in place... where did that come from?
So what else do I not know?

As it happens - having seen Martins own bike in the flesh I have total respect for his work. I would even trust him rebuilding one of mine, and I'm a right picky b@gger !
(and no I don't get horny looking at shiney engine cases before you start
... LOL)

this is how the shock was when it was removed from the bike.
leaking/saggy and not very clean
and now this is how it looks. rebuilt. regassed and sorted

That looks like a great shock rebuild - where was that done martin?
I will need the label on the res re-producing too because I'm a full kagool !
