They're still available if you (or anyone else) want them. If more people want them and we run out of valves we'll just order more aluminium.

Thanks for your comments. :D

It hasn't been that stressful, it's just I don't like to break my promises, which I now had to. Herbert had some other more important jobs and therefore I had to wait

First batch consists of 31 sets. Ordered so far have been 32sets. I'll take one set only for myself then, so everyone else will get his set(s) as ordered.

Please allow me some time before I post them, just to be sure I'll check all valves if they fit into the barrels I've got here.

Herbert just told me that minimum batch size for future sets will have to be 40valves, so 10sets.

I'll start a new topic for a second batch, as I'd like a second set for myself as well. As soon as 10sets will have been ordered, I will have them made.

cheers,
Charles

No, it's not been nice work.  Sorry to anyone who's ordered.......

Just tried to fit the valves in my spare engine, the holes in the shaft have been drilled too low, the levers/wheels won't fit now. ](*,)

Spoke to Herbert, he'll replace all valves asap (first ones will be ready this Wednesday) and will pay the postal charges for those valves that have already been shipped. Fool that I am, I didn't have a original valve at hand as I collected the valves, otherwise I would have noticed this fault directly.

This is what went wrong: the bloke who measured my original valve measured the height (approx 85.6mm IIRC) of the hole from the base of the valve:

He then programmed the milling machine to drill the hole applying this measurement from the bottom tip of the valve :

And so all valves made are faulty and can be binned...........

Sorry again, I'm only human............

That must be annoying Charles. :o

Well done for taking the time and effort to get these parts manufactured, they look great.

Keep at it charles this what restoring bikes is all about . To me the finished valve looks like its going to be a fine piece of engineering.

thanks guys,

I feel bad enough  Wanted to ship them as fast as possible as you all had to wait long enough. Checked the fitment of every single valve in my spare barrels here and overlooked this bloody hole, as the original valves I got were still at Herberts place.... Must admit I didn't think something a simple as the location of that hole would cause any problems...... After all Herberts employees are supposed to be professionals ](*,)

do you have to return all the faulty valves ?

if not, can I have a couple set's :?: shouldn't be to difficult to make them fit. cut the shaft off, drill a hole in the valve, make new shafts on my lathe and screw them in with loctite.

I'll even pay the "scrap aluminium price" :D

Looking at them the difference in the hole it is alot so you could drill and tap them your selve correctly. they won't be very strong as the holes will be quite close but if you have access to a lathe and some threaded bar you could fill the hole and locktite the inserts in place.

charles don't worry shit like this happens all the time.

Don't forget clutch stars next and then the round rings that fit on the gear selectors which are now NLA need making. these need to be of titanium and very good quality (tight tolerance) unlike the original Kwack items.
