i hav a collection of zxr400/250 usd bits, inc full set of forks yokes etc sat in my garage think 400 forks hav a little damage, but i hav the 250 yokes which r like rockin horse pooh!!
the 250 forks outer tubes are good but a lot longer than the 400...was going to mix/match but wont fit !!
got a reply back from maxton about my forks...
"The forks look externally very similar to the 750, but internally there are quite a lot of difference - it is a much cheaper fork inside. One of the big problems with the ZXR400 forks is that the oil is metered at the top of the fork. We modify the forks so that the oil is metered at the bottom of the fork, this gives the fork a much smoother action. We also increase the rebound damping and reduce the compression damping, this helps the bike turn into corners and hold a better line exiting corners. We also fit harder springs to suit your rider weight to stop the forks diving under braking. "
The cost of the conversion is £250 plus VAT and carriage. Seals would be £20 plus Vat and bushes if needed would be £20 plus VAT.

Matt
I would def go with the maxton conversion that Corky just mentioned but before you do it, just get the bike built with some ZXR forks and a decent rear shock and give it a good thrash . The fork rebuild can be do at a later date as cash allows.

the standard choke cable will fit without any problems. Its the throttle cable that needs modifrying to give a longer pull to open the cables fully.

the slide should have a number on top, note the shape/angle of the cut out on the slide. im not sure but it appears you have a 5 and a 6? allens are the main agents as elf said, how much are slides anyway?
