Hi all,

Not sure if anyone else has come across this problem (I have searched but nothing comes up)???

Having bought a new set of headstock bearings (from a popular web based company), I got a call from some mates who are putting them back into my newly powder coated frame.

The problem is that the new bearings are the wrong ones.

The new bearings are:
25 / 47 / 15mm and 28 / 52 / 15mm

The old ones that came out are definately 47mm external diameter and 15mm deep and seem to be 25mm internal diameter... They are both the same.

After a conversation with the company, they cant seem to find any info on the KR1 s that fits my dimensions...

So the questions are:

1) Does anyone know the true dimensions of the headstock bearings?
2) Does anyone have theirs out so they can measure them?
3) Do I have some odd forks on my KR1 S
4) Anybody have a clue what the hell is going on???

just changed the headstock bearings on one of mine so ill look tomorrow....will post sizes the if its any help....

that would be great if you could!!! I just want to make sure I am using the right bearings!

Another quick question, but how tight should a bearing be on the stem (the bit inbetween top and bottom yokes)???

to answer your questions

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) No
4) No


Both are 25mm internal diameter and 47 external and 15 wide.

seat the bearing cups in the frame down on their seats(the note will change when they r home)bearing on the stem too...tighten it up till you get no click from the headstock when you push the bike forward n backwards wiv the brake on(put a finger under the top yolk when you do this n youll feel it) and not too tight(your stearing should still flop side to side whe your wheel is of the ground under its own weight)

elf you must have a complete kr1s in bits next to your pc......

Once again the knowledge and expertise on this site blows me away!

Ok, I didn't want to say earlier (in case I was wrong) but the supplier is Wemoto. Now... I am NOT slagging them off cos all the other bearings fitted perfectly and the delivery times are excellent (next day), but they seemed convinced that the correct bearings were the ones they sent me (i.e. two different sizes).

P.S. Elf, how did you get the sizes so quick???

well the garage isn't that far from the PC and there are enough spare parts in there to make another bike

that will explain in.... Anyway, thanks for the super quick reply...
