19 two strokes and 13 diesels

two strokes out number the diesels [:D]

Reckon Paul Elerker and Alan Armour must be favourites - though Ross Searle, Stephen Churchyard, Matt Brown, Mark Jordan and Russ Bates are going to be up there.
Dark horse has to be Steve Pond - first time out with DP ex GP250 racer who did very well with NG.
Dean Dickinson used to have the F400 lap record when he was riding an RGV took it from Jamie Witham

A few words for those not going to be there.

The second round of the 2007 F250 championship at Mallory see’s a crop of new riders and the best F250 grid, at this Leicestershire circuit, since the series started as the KR Cup in 2000. Champion for the last two years and reigning F400 champion Alan Armour #4 (RGV), at the season opener at Croft, had a perfect start with four wins. Alan on his immaculately prepared machine must start as the favourite for a further two wins. However, he isn’t expected to dominate in manner he did at Croft.
Second in the series Ross Searle #52 (Aprilia) has beaten Alan at Mallory and goes well at this circuit; if it rains expect Ross to be leading the way.
Steve Pond #173 (RGV) will be looking to make his mark in what will be his first F250 race. Steve is a seasoned racer having previously raced GP250 machines before returning to racing, after a short break, on an RGV with the North Gloucester club. If man and machine gel then definitely a potential winner.
Mark Jordan #96 (KR-1R) left machine preparation for 2007 rather late cobbling bits together in the garage at Croft on the morning of the first meeting. Hopefully he will be better prepared for Mallory as we know that if he is in the mood he is quite capable of winning.
Dan Williams #29 (NSR250) is the most experienced of the three h***a NSR250 riders and is another man capable of winning. Dan, runner up in the F400 in 2003 on a VFR, was still getting used to and sorting his machine at Croft – hopefully it is now fully operational. The other two NSRs are newcomers to the series Roy Thorpe #362 and competing at his first race meeting John Stacey #120.
Another competing in their first meeting is 16 year old Scott Mills #180 (KR﷓1-S) riding Daniel Hegarty and Ben Philips old machine.
With so many on the grid expect battles right through the field. Our long distance travellers Iain McDonald #226 (Aprilia) from Scotland and Mark Bamford #109 (RGV) from the Isle of Man will be fighting it out with F250 regulars Nigel Holmes #149 (RGV), David Barker #178 (RGV) and Alan Grindey #157 (KR-1S) and novices Matthew Graves #95 (RGV) and Dino Brady #85 (RGV) who both impressed at Croft. These will also have to contend with David Reynolds #77 (Aprilia) in his first ride in the F250.

Don’t expect to see Zak Lines and Joshua Knapp vying for a win in the F250 just yet. These two young lads on their Aprilia RS125s are learning their racing craft – expect to see more mention of them in a few years time when they graduate to larger machines.

Also on the grid will be a selection of 400's
Not sure how it is going to pan out - favourite for a couple of wins must be Paul Ellerker however Russ Bates is looking strong and could sneak in if Paul makes a mistake (look out for mono wheeling KRs at the hairpin ). Novice Thomas Fisher went well at Croft and it will be interesting to see how he fairs. Likewise Stephen Churchyard and Dean Dickinson.

Just to add a bit of spice I will put my neck on the block - I think race 1 the top four will be Paul Ellerker, Alan Armour, Mark Jordan and Russ Bates. Race 2 I think will be Jordan, Ellerker, Armour, Bates. Which ever way it falls it is going to be close. Best lap if its dry will be high 57 seconds. If it is wet Ross Searle for two wins.

we now have 19 strokers on a full grid of 32 bikes

Forecast is looking good and I know a number of the NSR forum are going along to support their lads.

Come along it should be a cracking days racing.

The Open 400 has its own grid with GP250/F400/F250 and GP125 vying for a win.

how did bike fair? look's like scrapes/bent bars/footrest/pipes took worst of it, doe's look a bit nasty though, cant believe they missed ya!

reminds me i NEED to make an effort to get to a 250 race... shame most of the tracks are such a long hike from where i live.

Think so - think memory shutdown at that point - I remember the back beginning to slide and thinking 'oh shit - I hope I don't get run over' then bouncing along the tarmac for ages.

Mallory 27 May or Brands 3 June are probably your closest.

For Brands club are doing a one day membership for £5 plus entry which unfortunately isn't that cheap but it is a very expensive circuit to hire.

I will have a word with the club about one day memberships - but I suspect that regulars will get priority over one dayers. At Brands I know grids are not full so entry should be ok. Mallory they are likely to be solid.
