Re: Well it's Green and a bike !!!
Many Thanks to Boxbridge (Doug)
He helped me out a lot with my questions but looks to have solved the mystery of the left/right piston mix up
He suggested that the circlip from the pistons would probably be missing from the "outer" side, so that would determine which bore they came from =D>

Started stripping the top end down now
So will be hopefully fitting the 865 barrels , get the shims done and check valve seals etc are working properly, then put it all back together

It will take me all winter the pace I work at
It will take me weeks to do the shim calculations

As far as I can see the only reason for Winter is to get engines rebuilt Let us know how you're getting on..

Re: Well it's Green and a bike !!!
I see I posted on 30th Oct to announce I had started stripping the top end
Today it ran for the first time , well after I had to put some more juice in the battery
Just let it warm up gently on drive but haven't taken it out yet !
So still early days until I take a ride out, but they have salted the roads around here today

Been to dyno at last !!!
865 barrels and the Keihin CR 35 smoothbore carbs
Made more Torque at low revs which was a surprise
Didn't alter any jetting as it was close

Yes well pleased with the torque
It really makes you think what they do to these engines at the factory to get such paltry torque and horsepower figures
Must be my DIY tuning of the head with my rat tail files
Taking rear pegs off too to lighten it a bit more
So have so far
removed front and rear metal mudguards
changed the Chromed rims to alloy rims
removed centre stand
removed standard silencers
Swopped metal side panels for later plastic ones
Removed metal chain guard
Removed rear footrests

Got a Fandango oil temperature gauge that sits in the filler cap
These engines run hot and in traffic they start cooking so will be interesting what it reaches
In the notes it says 80 degrees is the oil running temperature
