Bikemike's 'the garden project' please let me introduce you to possibly the worst KR in existence, if that one was the garden project, this one is going to be known as compost corner. (Yeah too many saturday mornings in front of the box watching Tiswas  )

Current plans include, lobbing it in a skip and doing something else.....sorry, that's the sensible option, but I'm not doing sensible

Er, black frame, black wheels, black footrests, er yeah got a black thing going on again, that and the fact I've an absolute shitload of very good parts from my other one.

It was running... well good enough to ride it home from Macclesfield....

Good luck with it.... I might have a spare few bits to help you out if you need it....

PM me what you need and I will look in my box :D

Well, the project was soon reduced to a pile of bits, the 'chuck' pile being a fair bit larger than the 'save' one

Frame is now black, need to collect on monday as are nearly all the other chassis bits and pieces.

Current plan is, usd front end (zxr again-on the way) and possibly this for the rear

I've just picked up this zxr250 back end for the princely sum of 30 quid, a quick inspection and I do mean quick, looks like it will bolt straight in a KR1 frame, spindle size and length is the same as a 1, linkages have the same code on them (1085 I think). Wheel is the same as a 1S, same code etc. Seems to be same width across. So all looks like it may just bolt in. Disc looks fractionally bigger than KR.Rear caliper looks the same. We'll See.

If it does go in, I may use a 1 three spoke wheel to match a zxr400 front

Other ideas include a VJ21 tank, how has anyone else fitted one of these? I was thinking of cutting the mounting points of a kr tank and getting these brazed on or something.

Be interesting to see how it works out mark

Is the mounting point for the suspension unit the same width and in
the same area?

So far, Garry, it looks like all the suspension linkages etc are exactly the same as a KR.

It really does look like it will literally just bolt in, here's a couple more pics,

One of the zxr arm and a spare 1s arm, looks very similar.

One of the zxr linkages with a KR one posed near it.

make yourself something like I did :

and I welded some skirts on the tank, so it matches nicely with the plastics :

Nice one Jan, that looks a nice solution, think even I can manage something like that.

Might even use a vj21 seat yet, so may not need the skirts but I like the idea.

the vj22 tank has got to be one of the nicest shaped tanks this side of a tz or h***a rs. the mod looks very straight forward aswell, as for the sv/kr mod and engineering on the frame,well...
...janbros i dont know how you do it but your work is amazing and i envy your talent you git!!! =D> =D>

I think the zxr swinger looks a bit longer than the kr one.
In the pic the top is higher and the bottom is lower. :-k

rgv tank doesnt match up to the kr seat very well without a bit of buggering about.
there tends to be a gap between the tank and seat but this can be filled by brazing in an extra piece as jan has done.
it needs new mounts fabricatinf both front and rear but it does sit nice on the frame when its done and is definately more shapely than the kr tank.
kr fuel tap is a straight swap onto the rgv tank.

My crap photography  Swinger is the same length as a kr, just the angle it's leant at compared to the other one.
