Fork Oil

I need to fill the KR1S forks up with new oil
As i have never ridden them assembled,is standard oil the best way to go
i weigh about 11 1/2 stones if this helps
Do you leave the spring in to measure the oil from the top compressed fork top and what is the correct measurment
