Restricted KR at Anglesey

yep you read it right i rode a restricted KR1S around anglesey today ...
Bloody thing wouldnt rev past 8k rpm
this happened to me at the last couple of sessions at oulton last month, but since then i have changed the stator(new one), floats valves, and cdi.
Today i changed :
the coil, but got only a weak spark so changed it back again...still a weak spark
thought it may be the jetting, running 135's changed to 140 but only made it worse at lower revs...so changed back
checked the pv motor on startup goes thru the motions but rev the bike to the 8k max!!! and it doesnt operate, (with or without cables connected)
so i swapped it for another (i carry lots of spares

)
still the same....
changed cdi back...still the same,,
ty-wrapped the powervalves open (disconnected from the motor)
...still didnt rev past 8k
something is breaking down and not allowing the bike to rev past 8k and open the pv
HELP................i have checked every connection and changed nearly every electrical component

Just a thought Corky it's not over oiling is it? its just that at silverstone on monday a guy with a tz250 had the same problem & it turned out there was to much oil in the fuel?

Another thought did i read on here somewhere about somebody fitting an electronic ignition & it wouldent rev, so he fitted a different set of plugs that he brought of ebay? think they were these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KAWASAKI-KR-1-KR- ... dZViewItem think it had something to do with the resistors

you can tell me to shut up if i'm talking crap

Don't Kwak normally restrict on the carb side....
Normally used to 4 strokes... so wouldn't know how to restrict a 2 stroke...
Just an idea... restricted air flow??? or perhaps restricted inlets into the reeds?

i gave a set of restrictors to a guy in irland...just plates that sit in the engine tract in front of the carb with a ten mm hole in it at the bottom..b"st3rd was un-ridable nothing under 7 grand and less above .....put em in for the missus but it would have killed her....
it still sounds like a coil if you need one to try i have one i can guaranty works but i will need it back...and a cdi and pickup too if needed....

running same engine i did at oulton before the problem occured,
had engine out set up pvalves, checked reeds all ok...
changed plugs at anglesey from ngk racing to normal, still the same.
i have got another coil will try that....
would like to get it all sorted as i want to get all my zeeltronic/vapour dash/35mm carbs and new engine set up in my spare frame ready for the dyno.
then i know this is a good engine as a spare...

Dunno if this is true or false , but have read of some quality issues with NGK plugs after they have started being made outside Japan .
Anyone heard anything like this ?
Denso eq is a IW29 from what I can work out , but hard to find down here .
Strange problem Corky

dodgy tachos can cause problems such as misfiring/reluctance to rev im sure of it? i seem to remember mj having a problem with his tacho at cadwell after the crash at (mallory?) were the tacho took a bump and im sure he disconnected it either beacause its linked to the ignition and could blow the cdi or because his bike was misfiring or both? im not sure by any means but worth a thought. if you havent swapped as coild yet then id try that first.
