hi guy's any advise on removing the screws thet hold the pully's on the power valves.co going by how easy they break im a bit scared to get heavy with them tried soaking in w.d 40 might try some heat .any thought's

yes, wd40 is shit. ok for preventing rust but for freeing stuff off you need pen-ol. blue and white tin and is magic in a can. try this stuff. was it you who wants the pump etc? if so its in the post tomorow. tally ho

sometimes the only way is to use a saw and make the bolts into the "slotted" type and use a flat screwdriver. downside is that you have to be prepared to saw also in the Kips-links, otherwise you can't get deep enough.

jan's way is the best method....dont worry about cutting into the valve...its not under any strain and the screw head wil give it strength when you put em back on...the nipple hole will fail before anything else...the trick with penetrating oil...wd40,plus gas,phenol...etc is that the active part is a gas and will evaporate off very quickly...so you need to spray every ten mins or so..maybe half a dozen times for it to have any effect..

Try a little bit of heat valve and arm are alloy and expand faster than the steel screw. When I have used heat they have always come apart.

If that fails and they are the cross head I drill the head off with a 6mm Drill. Once the head is off use a small drill in teh screw and it will wind itself through. With care all parts can be taken apart with no damage other than the screw.

it works well...drill from the back of the bolt and the twist of the drill and the heat will undo it for you....
but its a small hole you need to drill and its easy to drift into the ally and once your there its like drilling in butter and you wont get it back...dont go on the piss the night before and get the morning shakes and you'll be alreet....

just snap them all off,thats what i did simple

A good method for suspected locked screws is to always give them a tighten first before trying to undo. This can break any corrosion binding the threads and also means on a phillips headed screw, it can only round the heads in the tightening direction leaving still a second chance on the counterclockwise direction

By matter of course I will only use an impact driver to loosen the power valve screws - BE CAREFUL to support behind the power valve stem or you will shear it off with a gentle hammer blow to the impact driver.
