Well I've gone and bought another 2 stroke

Introducing Kristy

1990 KR-1S C1

Average condition... needs a few things sorted... fork rebuild, new front tyre, get temp gauge working, replace the regulator and work out why the powervalves aren't working (or maybe I should just wire the buggers open like everyone seems to).

As you all will know the rear end is not the original paint, it should have the yellow number boards and the black line is meant to finish near the end of the riders seat... from the looks of it it would seem that someone has had their own take on it and done a quick repaint because they didn't like the number boards. The rest of the bike is original though. I couldn't see any evidence of an accident but has had a stationary drop. I'll return it to original paint scheme at some point.

Rides really well even with the saggy suspension, such a contrast to the rgv and the rs. Small, light, nimble and a stock exhaust note that is really something else.

Picked her up for $2000, including getting the owner to put 6 months rego on it. This is a really cheap price for such a bike here in Australia.

looks good Lee.
and not a bad price either.
Gotta agree with you on the sound of the S exhaust. It truly is something to behold. 8)

looks nice mate, very cheap aswell by the sounds of it. im not sure what the exchange rate is pound vs aus dollar but i know that you got a bargain. the only thing that spoils the green/black kr is the (500 gp) yellow no. boards. ironically the green/black is prob the most sought after colour. i think it would look nice with green (250 over here) no. boards, poss white. original is always best though, esp if your after restoring it. i agree that the sound of the kr is poss the best from the class, much more '' proper 2 stroke'' than the v twins ie rgv etc. why they didnt put decent suspension on is anyones guess? it could of been a better package than the rgv in std ish form had they developed the chassis. the motor is the kr's strength. tuned bikes make massive midrange compared to others bikes in the class (400's aside). in std form the engine is still and will still put up a good fight on twisty roads! seems you have a couple of nice bikes, you will become hooked on the crude kr simply for its no frills character. welcome aboard cheers matt
