here are two yokes one kr1s and one zxr 400h. i am swapping(nk racing are doing this) the stem over as i want to fit the 400h forks. the stem on the kr is 25mm the 400h being 35mm. is this correct and am i just worried about nothing or has someone sold me the wrong yoke

Think you might have a 400l yoke, they have the bigger stem, 400h is the same size as a kr, but longer.
400l bottom yoke is different to the 400h one as it has the larger stem hole and also the 400l legs are 2mm (think, can't remember!) wider.
You can put a kr stem in the 400l yokes but it needs a bush making.
400l legs are same (close) length as kr, h are longer. Both take same calipers. l runs 310 discs. l yokes will take 636 legs......

Yep you have a ZXR400L stem not an H model.

Can't say for certain, but I would have thought so.
Have you got 400 h legs (or ordered them)? Because they won't clamp up in the 400l yokes.
Top yoke is inter changeable between h and l, given the choice get an h top yoke, because it'll save you the hassle of getting a bush made for that. (l has a bigger hole on top yoke as well).
This is a 400l bottom yoke bushed and a kr stem fitted, so it is 'do able'
(l legs and h top yoke)

I'm 99.9% that you've got l forks and yokes, measure the legs length and I'll tell you for certain.
It's all pretty much the same, only other thing you need to do is swap the 300mm kr/zxr400h disc for 310mm zxr400l ones other than that everything else is the same. Plus if you feel like sticking in 636 legs later then you can
l mudguard looks nicer than h as well so that's a bonus

Got a few measurements here for you, all are measured from spindle centre to the shoulder at the top, not including the hexagonal section or any adjusters.
zxr400h 747mm
zxr400l 725mm
zx636b1h 737mm
Spindle size, think they're all a 20mm spindle, just checked on a site and both 400l and h and also zx6r f series are all listed as using a 6004 bearing on the front wheel.
Can't remember if the bushed ends are different on 400h and l, can check tomorrow for you.

ok, i measured from the bottom to the top not including the hex or adjuster so that would account for the 20mm difference.
