noise from the engine

hi folks
since ? i have a new (in my ears) bad noise from the engine.
i can’t explain the noise and not accurate localize.
it is not the clutch and rotation speed dependent.
it sounds like a dc motor?
the noise is very similar to this rs125 (not so loud)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93QWrJH7k_o
or this KR. (you can hear the noise after the revs come down)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp8qbCONpCY
apart from that the engine runs fine without temperature problems or loss of power.
crank is ~ 3800 miles “old”, barrels and pistons perhaps 450 miles.
runs only on public roads.
any ideas?
cheers

Hi
ok ok
the clips above are not the best examples.
here is a clip from
my bike.

is this ambient noise normal??
i am more or less sure this noise is new after i rebuild the engine.
Cheers

Hello Dirk, It's difficult for anybody to be absolutely Sure without fear of being wrong & mis'advising you

..... But I'll break the ice & say !!!!!!!!!!!!
It sound's as I would expect with a " just rebuilt engine, it's a "running in"
sound that will slowly disappear as you use it. Sounds sweet to me !.

are you reffering to the whine? sounds like the primary gears on the tight side. just a factory tolerance/discrepancy thing i reckon. if you get x2 gears that are both on the upper end of the tolerance they are obviously going to be a touch tighter. my spare motor makes the same noise but with a diffrent clutch/primary it goes away. other than that i hear nothing else. to me it sounds perfect, poss everythings a bit tight given that its new. if it revs up freely i wouldnt worry. in fact it sounds pretty sweet.

That sounds quite normal, Mine makes a hell of a lot morew of a racket when cold but sounds sweet once warmed up. Its quite easy IMHO to get parariod over engine noise at times. For an engine as new as yours with everthing as sweet as you said except the bit of noise then I won't worry.

Good morning everyone!:)
thanks for the feedback!
mgtkr1 wrote:are you referring to the whine? ..
yes
i know 5 KRs in Germany.
none of this bikes makes a similar noise.
it is strange.
mgtkr1 wrote: sounds like the primary gears
that's possible.
i have research this hint.
some other bikes (BMW K100, h***a VTR, Triumph Speed Triple,... ) makes the same whine.
the cause for this bikes is the spur-toothed primary drive.
not nice but no problem.
the kr has a spur-toothed primary drive.
and yes
i am a little bit paranoid.
in 2 years and only ~4000 miles:
"new" crankcase, new crank, new cylinder, new pistons, "new" cylinder head, new alternator and many many other parts.
and now this strange noise
KR-1S?
give me two and a lobotomy please
cheers!
