Classic Neutral Selection Problem?

Hi Guys,

Now I think I have found the cause of the major issue on my project bike I am thinking about sorting the next one.

The engine is difficult to get into neutral while running. It prefers to either go into first or second. When the engine is stopped it goes in perfect. Apart from this it selects all the gears properly up and down.

Having read a number of other thread on what appears to be the same issue it sounds like turning the thrust washer round is likely to fix it?

Is the thrust washer the one circled below?

Cheers

yep thats it. its splined and wears on the outer edge of the splines, turning it around solves the problem.

Hi All,

Had a spare bit of time yesterday afternoon so I set about the job in hand.

1 1/2 hrs later I have a super smooooooth gearchange just like new.

Really straight forward job that I would recommend for people to do to avoid the frustration of finding neutral   .

Just need to be really careful doing the star up (as I found on my first KR1 changing plates about 10 years ago  ).

More excellent advice - Thanks Elf =D> .
