Me again

So, I am running silkolene pro injector in my KR1 at the mo in the usual way(eg I'm not running premix) but there is hardly any smoke on start up and whilst running. I keep a close eye on the temp gauge and the bike runs fine. I took her out for a 40 mile run the other day, temp was perfect, did not move from its usual settling point somewhere around 1/3 up the gauge. She runs beautifully and the injector pump seems set fine, the oil pipe seems fine too. I should mention the oil is old - about 6 years old: does it go off?!

Am I just being paranoid or am I missing something here? The last thing I want is for a seize because I have done something dumb or not checked something obvious. It's just it barely smokes on start up and once running you cannot make any smoke out at all. I do runs past my house, ride back quickly and sniff the air but that doesn't really work!

But I'm sure that it mentions that in the handbook as the official way of checking theoil pump is correctly adjusted!

If you did a fourty mile run & it didn't sieze I think we can safely asume the oil pump is working fine

i dont like the idea of using oil as old as that esp if its not been sealed but anyway, if your convinced your gonna get yer 8 quids worth then do as follows. use as little load/high revs as poss, turn the pump up a tad to give it a slightly richer mix, not too much mind as it weakens the a/f ratio. definitly wouldnt go out r6 huntin with that oil as its askin for trouble. personally id drain it and top up with some nice new stuff. save the old stuff for the oilcan/lawnmower. saving a tenner aint worth risking a 500 pound rebuild imo. btw, they dont smoke a great deal anyway. if you can smell oil whern waiting for it to warmup/at a standstill then all is well as long as the pumps set up right and the oil has no bubbles of air in the oil pipes.
