Hi guys.

Still yet to decide between a Maxton or Nitron rear shock but I know I will need to increase the ride height.

I know BDK do shorter links but is there a standard Kawasaki replacement from another bike?

if you are going to put another shock in, why also other dog bones?
just put a slightly longer shock in, or better one that can be adjusted in length.

I'm looking to replace the original with a Maxton or Nitron unit.

Neither of these offer longer or ride height adjustable shocks.

I understand an R6 unit can be made to fit but finding a good one is proving difficult.

you need to make adjustments to the airbox to fit an R6 shock. and it is too long in my view.
think I still have one lying arround somewhere on my attic. for sale if you want it (not after big money), mind you : shipping needs to be done from Belgium.

nitro does one for them, with adjustable length. you just have to swap the "eye" at the bottom for a "U" , I'm pretty sure Nitro can do that.

I would be interested in the spare R6 shock if it’s a good one.

I’m aiming to run without an airbox so that’s not an issue.

thinck it's 2006-2007 ? definitly pre 2009 as I posted pics of it that year on the forum.

post should be 14.90 if it's under 2kg total, 34.60 if it's above.

That's the one I fitted to mine, had to make a few shims and sleeves, but it was on a KR-1 not an S.

How do you rate the R6 shock?

Obviously it's a saving of over £500 compared to an aftermarket Maxton or Nitron) one.

Sorry not ridden it, only wheeled it in and around the shed, it bounces ok, doesn't look much higher than standard to be fair. Can get a couple of measurements if you want, but for £75ish must be worth a punt, can always flog it on if you're not happy. Don't think the spring is much fatter, but it's very close to the swingarm. I always thought the standard shock mount on the frame should be longer, so the shock would be more vertical.

@ Mark, do you want it or do I put it back on my attic ?

Still not sure which route to go down.

Maxton will build me a shock with an extra Inch in length so might just get one of them.
