Removing the spring from the rear shock?

Hi guys,

I want to get the spring on my rear shock power coated as its well tatty and I'm doing a restoration job to my 'S.

What I'd like to know is, can you just undo the pipe that goes from the shock body to the remote resevoir to allow the spring to come off? or will it leak oil and be useless when I put the bolt back in and try to re-use it?

hope this makes sense?

Thanks, hope someone can advise!

The remote resevoir and pipe contain not oil but nitrogen gas at about 150psi. If you remove the pipe you will need to get it re-gassed when you reassemble it.

oil goes from the shock through the pipe into the reservoir :!:

so yes, you'll lose some oil and will need to get the presure out off the reservoir or you'll lose a lot more oil

anyway : an ideal time to heve your shock refurbished, it 'll probably can use it
