KR1 Man calling, welcome to the forum.Nice looking KR1 and a lovely looking Tizzy. Have had 2x KR1-s + a KR1 and prefer the 1 to the 1s. Had a TZR 3XV about 4 years ago, great handler but too small for me. Went through all the avenues for de-restricting it but gave up due to price of parts, for example DK Spares wanting £200 + vat for a 2nd hand TZ250b cdi unit plus loom. That was when I discovered KRs and been addicted ever since

. Always fancied a 3MA, especially one needing some sorting to the motor so I c ould gain some engine experience on one. Enjoy the Tizzy, it's a great machine to work on and best regards, KR1 Man.

Hello mate and welcome to the site.
While i'm on can i ask you about the 3xv?
I'm looking at buying a couple, one is all there with full engine rebulid
the other is 95% complete but will need barrels repleting and top end rebulid.
they are for sale at nz$3000 for the pair which i think is a pretty good price.
question is without throwing stupid money at em whats the best way to
derestict a 3xv ?
I spoke to steve at TSS who recons the motors are gonna need to much maintanance if they
are taken much above the 45bhp jap spec. Whats you take on that?
I did ask on the rd forum but most guys got too wrapped up in wanting to fit TZ parts (cylinders/pistons. . etc)
which isnt something i'd want to do.
If i could get 50+ at the wheel i'd be happy.
Any suggestions an how to gain the extra 5+bhp ?
cheers
col

Hi col,
only the later ones are restricted to 45PS, the 3XV1 and 2 where sold as full power, from my understandings fitting the CDI from one to a later type, be it R, SP or SPR model will make it full power.
Theirs also Sugo kit parts if your lucky enough to find them what will be able to derestrict them.
In full power they are kicking out about a realistic 55bhp, maintainance is nothing too bad, just the same as any other 250 2t.
running 45PS engine wise nothing will hardly ever need doing, but the bike would seem slow and boring then.
I had a 3XV1 a year or so ago what had full nikkon pipes on, that sounded awsome and was dynoed at 58bhp @ wheel aparently by the previous owner
$3k for two sounds like a great price, wish could find them over here for that much lol
