obviously you must be fairly confident and may i say slightly amused at certain claims that may be made from certain marque supporters. kick ass mark :!:
on a similar note is there any gain to be had from staggered port timing as in A G Bells book on two stroke tuning on a kr1s or is the crankcase pressure too high, have you explored this avenue my bike is standard porting apart from matched bottom etc. will understand if u would not like to say.
dont want to set the world on fire but just looking for a little more zip
ade.

ade, matching everything is a good start and worth a few horse's. next widening the transfers(secondry) toward the boost port, however this may call for a change to tz pistons. the ring peg is in the wrong place on std pistons. squishing the motor also sharpens things up. dont be tempted to raise the ports too much as you will just move things further up the rev range, not good for a bike using the std brick wall at around 11 grand ignition! take a look at marks site, team sparrow for some useful information. its a shame mark hasnt updated it with new tuning ideas as the sparrow site is brillianrt for kr1s tuners/racers/afficiandos. mark will be sure to help out with gaining power, gave me lots of advice in the past. have never had a kr breakdown ever although tbhj i havent done a great deal of riding in recent yrs. the feel of a tuned kr is something you wont forget, i can recall quite vividly how the std one i have felt weak compared to the tuned bike. the kr also sound much more like a tz than any other proddy two stroke 250 less a tuned/sorted reverse seizure tzr.

Don't be quick to write off RGV's they have a inherent problem with the cylinder that is relatively easy to fix.The last few I have built pull hard from 5000rpm and have top gear roll on power.
The KR on the other hand has superior port layout but hamstrung by the dud ignition.Nothing wrong with raising the exhaust port, you just have to know what to do to fill in the front end of the power curve.

That's one heck of a challenge youve put down there MJ. =D> =D>
:-k You may want to pull youre finger out and fit up that Zeeltronic youve got hidden under the bed just to be sure.
Certainly looks like youll get a few challengers looking to take away your hard earned. I cant wait to see what they come up with. 8)

Sorry I am not going to be able to contribute here.

Just wanted to say I am really looking forward to following this. =P~ .

Of course I am hoping to see someone develop a decent RGV motor ..... Cough, cough.

Go MJ  .

Do we actually have anyone on the forum running Zeeltronic on their KR?

AFAIK The Elf . Corky used to have them on his (now sold) bike too.

Thanks Charles,

I should have known that

I'll do a search so I don't bog this thread down.

MJ - I think some guys on the RD forum may be interested in following this as they know you. Do you mind if I put up a link on there?

Hehe sounds like some fun, Lozza's been pretty quiet about what he's building, but it could be pretty nasty.....
From reading around this forum, it seems nobodys put much time into pipe development????????
Curious, as pipes are where its at from my (admittedly not extensive) experience..

Yep I do, but although it is tweeked, its still not 100% there. Got to spend some dyno time with her once I'm satisfied with the new cylinders. This is the best engine I have put together so far :D, but I've not had much luck as she only held together for 30mins on the first outing (the LHS cylinder plating failed #-o ). ATM I'm waiting for the cylinder and head to come back then I'll put her together for a blast at Cadwell on the 17th.

I have all the spares to build a complete engine from the ground up along with a set of tuned Graham File cases and access to a top (two stroke) drag bike tuner . Hey Mark, will you be able to supply an optimised port map and head dimensions etc?
When do you expect to challenge to take place?
Sounds like it would be an interesting article for a bike mag too, like one of those old PB shoot outs they used to do :P
Anyway, it seems to have generated a lot of interest, nothing like a bit of friendly rivalry to bring out the best
