Glad to hear you got it sorted and on the road now Gordi. =D> =D>
What ended up being the problem with the brakes?
Can't wait to see a clip of it up on youtube. 8)

And as for the hair issue, I keep mine nice and short so I cant get enough of a grip on it to tare it out. Mind you, the KR1 has been a dream compared to the old KR250. I swear that things what started sending me grey.

Cheers mate, and enjoy the ride.

Brakes

Post by Gordi »

Cheers Scott. Finished up borrowing a calliper from Ray's TZR350 for MoT. Problem on my calliper can only be the dust seals on the pistons. I'll strip the calliper again tomorrow and reassemble it without them and see if that changes things. I'm pretty sure it can only be that which is stopping pistons going back when the brake is released. Bloody pattern parts!!

this may have been suggested - are the inner seals, packers, slightly angled where they go against the piston. If they are then they must go in the right way round. lower edge towards disc if IRC.

Seals

Post by Gordi »

Thanks for the hint, Kwakon, I'll have a look although these callipers have been apart loads of times now and I've not noticed any angles on the seals. The brakes are from a TZR so I think the next move is to (reluctantly) buy some genuine Yamaha seals.

Main jets

Post by Gordi »

Can anyone foresee any problems running 155 main jets on the replacement Keihin 28 carbs with K & N filters? Will they be too big?

Will be very rich on full throttle. Why 155's out of interest?

Carbs

Post by Gordi »

They're the only ones my mate had in his workshop. Don't know much about jetting myself but at the moment the bike is bogging down/won't rev freely on the 135. Just thought it needed bigger jets.

The 135s can't be right with those K&N filters, so if you haven't got any other jets atm than the 155s just try them.....

You'll probably need to do a full carb setup in that case.

Jets are not very expensive, I'll PM you the info.

True, setting up the main jet is only the start.
