Hi everyone. Still pretty new to this site so I don't know if there'll be any interest in my project. It,s a KR1 engine mounted in a heavily modified Yamaha DT125R frame with TDR250 forks and wheels. Dunno what the swingarm is from but it fits okay with a couple of spacers.
Still using seat and tank from DT125 (god knows how far it'll go on a tankful!)

It sounds a bit different to the usual, is it going to be an motox project? Or a supermoto type thing? Anyway, its sound interesting

Hi again,
At the moment the frame (and associated brackets), wheels, swingarm are away for powder coating and the crank is at Piston Broke for a rebuild. Barrels will be going to Langcourt for replating asap (unless anyone knows a better place!)
Most of plastics from DT125R have been discarded leaving just mudguards and headlamp cowling.
I suppose is will look sort of super-motardy when it's done but the aim is really just to get it working.
Can foresee loads of challenges in the next few months but will try and post piccies of the rebuild as it progresses. That bit could be really tricky!!
No doubt will keep coming back for advice as time goes by.
Hopefully finished for next spring.

PS Just what mpg do you guys get from the KR1?

Is that the one that was on ebay (in Basingstoke iirc)
If so I was tempted myself.
Mpg- don't ask- just think of the fun you are having!
Ok- if you are lucky somewhere between 20 and 30mpg depending on your riding style. Oh, don't forget regular doses of fully synthetic at £15 a litre. As I said, don't ask.

That's the one! Couldn't resist it even if it was a nail when I picked it up. Everything should have told me to walk away. Guy said it was ready for MoT!! Rear brake calliper not even fixed to bike, just sitting on disc!
2-stroke though. And a challenge (an expensive one!). Just had to have it.
Might have been influenced by the TS250 that came with it!

Hi all. Just an update on on the "project". Frame and engine mounting brackets back from powder coater. TDR wheels too badly corroded to use so gonna use a pair of TZR wheels instead. No news on crank yet. Is this good???

instead of tzr wheels,have a think about a set of cagiva mito wheels,i use them in one of my tdr's and the look great with a much better tyre choice

Cheers for that Doug but project already way over budget and don't have any Mito wheels although we totally agree about the look. TZR wheels just something my mate Ray had hanging around. Need new spindles and spacers making but still the cheaper option. Should still look okay (ish) though!

Hi again. Just an update on the Yamasaki project for anyone who's interested. Crank was rebuilt at Armstrongs of Newcastle, barrels re-plated at Firefox Racing of Keighley. Both crackin' jobs so thanks to those guys. Thanks also to Charles for supplying KIPs pulleys. Final thanks are due to Ray, Gloucester's 2-stroke guru, for putting engine back together. TDR fork legs and yokes now away for coating at Griffs in Bristol. Shock absorber and sprockets on order. Kr1 front sprocket and TDR rear. Any opinions on this set-up?
Assembly should start soon then I'll try photobucket and upload photos.
Might be asking then for advice on setting up power-valvesas We've never worked with these before. Hope someone can advise. Need to have cables made first.
Are inlet rubbers still available on this site? Thanks to everyone for help and encouragement.
