Beg steal or borrow a pair of rivnut insert (sometimes called nutserts) pliers and the fittings.
Best tool I ever bought.
I'd lend you mine but postage both ways might be a killer....
You can get them off ebay.
I tend to use the alloy inserts, they look better and won't corrode.
This is what you are looking for:

They say it will do 8mm, but I reckon it will be a bloody hard pull with a steel insert (if you use those)
This search will get the inserts (and some more expensive tools!)

This is the one I have and it is a good piece of kit, well made and works brilliantly. I tried using it with 8mm steel fittings, and it works but you need a good grip to get the insert seated and gripping well.

I've got one of these on the way:

You never have too many tools.....

brido wrote:I thought this might help some people that have to replace or tighten a rivnut(captive nut), I had a loose rivnut on the engine cradle of my vj22 and I didn't want to buy a tool just for one rivnut, so I was informed of the weblink below and I was able to tighten the rivnut with the information given on the weblink, so I know it works.
As I said earlier it's for people who don't know about this method.
