Top End Tips

I'm new to KR1's and just rebuilt top end of my KR1. Two things I noticed and corrected which might help others. Firstly, new rings on standard pistons. Noticed top ring was a bit sticky in the groove (phenah, phenah). Close inspection of ring and groove showed top face of upper ring is angled very slightly. It is very easy to miss this and put your motor back together. I suspect the top edge of the piston crown ends up lunching itself or the ring snags a port and bye bye innards. The other is the much complained about issue with the KIPS valves becoming stiff to operate after torquening down head. I noticed the new head gasket has 'UP' stamped on it. In my case, I noticed the concaved stamping of the headgasket around the KIPS valves are the wrong way round and so press against the tops of the KIPS valves. Turn over the gasket so UP is DOWN and all works fine. They have been stamped out the wrong way round in my case. Has anyone lese come across the above, or am I telling you all stuff every KR1 owner has known from birth?
