That looks like it's coming up a real treat there Ian.
Am I right in thinking that yours is a factory Black/Blue bike? I only noticed cause of Gary's comment and the grey rims in the background, and if it is, youve got yourself a pretty rare varient.
Cheers, Scott.

Ian the bike looks like its coming on great. In answer to your question about the inicators they look like ZXR indicators to me as they are way shorter than the kr1s jobbies,in fact the whole back end looks ZXR
I will have a look in the garage I think I might have one lying around.
I fitted ZXR ones to ours they look a lot neater than the long KR1s ones

Well I don't know what length indicators the UK KR's had, but I just went out into the shed to have a look for myself. The 4 rear gaurds I found (that still had indicators attached) all had the exact same ones as are on Ian's bike, so I think it's pretty safe to assume that they are what was fitted from the factory for the Aus market.
Cheers, Scott.

Unlike what they fitted to the Oz spec Tandem Twins; what were they thinking?!! Something to do with size/width/ height laws? They had a longer rear mudguard as well.pablo wrote:Your right Scott,I've just looked through a few photos and the Aus KRs have a much neater tail than the UK model. No bulky number plate light smaller indicator stalks.............miles nicer looking
The blue KR1-S's are indeed rare; anyone know how many were made, just out of interest?
Your C1 is coming along great. Keep up the good work. You've no right to have a workshop that clean and tidy!
Stop annoying me, I'm running out of space to hide the bodies!

Thanks for all the positive comments, its getting there slowly. I got a large batch of M6 rubber well nuts if anyone wants some, they are the ones that insert into the frame under the electro-bracket on which the regulator sits.
You are right, it is a factory blue/black KR-1S. All of the bodywork is original and in reasonable condition for its age. It will ultimately need some attention but is okay for now.
Got some replacement clocks a while back and did the refurb last night.
Got to resist the temptation of transfering attention to the H***a MC28 and get the KR-1S finished by February.

Clock mounting bolts spoil it
I have got more than enough original bolts for any future restoration, for that i would part with 2,only 2 mind.
Nice to see the 2 below the temp gauge are standard.
When you have the plastics"ultimately need some attention"is there any chance you could get a fair quantity of the blue paint?cause thats the colour i would like to do one in

The bike undercover is this one:
It's a 1996 variant that I've owned from new.
My better half has reminded me that I'm very sad discussing the merits of original clock mounting hardware versus aftermarket stainless steel ones but I'll put some orignal ones in to compare.
Blue paint: I'll see what I can do about getting some more made up when it comes to it. Not sure if there would be any problems (other than costs) shipping it from Aus to the UK though.
