clutch cable :/

Hi guys, I hope this is the right place to put this post. basically I'm having a bit of trouble with my clutch cable breaking very regularly which i'm sure you can all imagine is very annoying, the last time this happened i was due somewhere that dan and the next over 50 km away from 8 till 5 so no oppourtunity to fix in between I must say having to get off the bike and run along with it in neutral jump on and drop it into first isn't the most enjoyable thing to be doing at 7 o'clock in the morning :/ anyhow i've fixed it now so i'll be fine, what i'm worried about is that the clutch lever is very worn and i'm 100% positive that that is what is causing the breakages (about every 4 months) so i'm thinking of heading down to the local wreckers to find a replacement lever but i think the likelyhood of finding a kr1/kr1s is very low so what i was wondering is what other makes would fit. Anyone else had this problem, what did you guys do?

Hi there,

I like how you came up with that quick fix on the spot (jumping on/off, running along in neutral), sounds like you got a good workout out of it! :D

About the clutch lever, replacements are fairly easy to find, there is a number of places online that sell Kr1/s parts, including clutch levers. www.wemoto.com definitely have them, and a few others as well, just type it into google and see what it comes up with.

Just a quick one the_bard, are you using after market clutch cables?

Because they are a bit rubbish really. Its quite easy to make your own or have one made.

I have had 3 after market choke cables on my KMX125 in two years! And lets face it, the choke isn't the most heavy duty item on a bike!

Also, is your clutch on the heavy side? hard to pull in? May be you need to overhaul the clutch itself? Oh & make sure the cable is routed properly, I had a h***a (just trying to beat the system here!) CD200 (don't ask) once & every time I turned the bars it would pull the clutch in :lol: Lots of fun!
