Probably a silly question, but is this slide now scrap?

I think you know the answer!
The question is- where did the rest go?
There's enough metal gone there to make a right mess of an engine :(

What number is on the slide might have a spare one you can have.

No worries I got this one from a scrap crosser, we're probably looking at the reason for it being scrapped

I'm not sure about this carb, it looks like the previous owner was Lennie Small.

Have you ever seen anything like this before?

It looks like it has been honed, is this an attempt to improve the performance?

What do you reckon?

It looks as though it may have been bored out, I've got a set like that.
They need to bored out slightly off centre- yours appear to be.
Measure it, mine have been bored out to 29.5mm from 28mm.
I've not fitted mine, that is near the bottom of a long, long list of things to do.

For a tweak people D shape the carb. Means you have to use plastic metal on the top part as it breaks through. Result is low end carburation retained - top end benefits from greater area :D

Yes you're right it has been bored out to 29mm horizontal and 29.5mm vertical.

mj, the slide is a number 4 if you have a spare I would appreciate it.

What do you make of the damage near the slow jet?

This carb is from a 2007 kx85, I was hoping to get another and use the pair on my valve but whatare the chances of finding another the same as this?
Maybe I should offer it to the off road crowd as an upgrade.

To run in a pair would it be better if both carbs had been bored out on the same machine?

What would you lot do with it?

cheers.

It'll probably end up for sale, doubt if I'll find another the same.

Anyone know if there is a name/description for the work that has been carried out on this carb?

cheers.
