BROKEN ENGINE

HI THERE,JUST WANT TO POST SOME PICS FROM MY ENGINE THAT DECIDED TO STOP WORKING BY KILLING ITSELF :-k

I WAS DOING ABOUT 80 km/h (50 MPH) AND IT SUDDENLY DIED :?:

I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND IT JUST STOP RUNNING AND BESIDES THAT THE REAR WHEEL STOP TURNING AND I ALMOST BROKE MY A*S. :shock:

THANK GOD THERE WAS NO CARS BEHIND ME,SO I COULD PARK THE BIKE,CALLED MY BROTHER TO PICK US UP AND WENT HOME. ](*,)

SO THE NEXT DAY (SATURDAY 15) I OPENED THE ENGINE AND FOUND THIS... :shock:

BY THE WAY...THE CYLINDER ITS RUSTED BECAUSE I PUT EVERYTHING IN MY YARD AND IT RAINED ALL NIGHT LONG AND I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE THAT. :lol:

AND AS YOU CAN SEE THE LH CONROD IT IS BROKEN,ALSO THE UPPER CASE AND BOTH CASES ARE DAMAGED INSIDE,AND ABOUT THAT PISTON :-({|=

LETS NOT TALK ABOUT IT


ALMOST FORGOT


THE RPM`S WERE ABOUT 5K WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED

Ouch. Is that rust I see in the barrel. Do you have steel liners as opposed to to original nikasil plating?

but looking at your other piston, I'd say your engine should have had a rebuild some time ago :-k

That looks grim mate.

I'm glad it didn't bite you, 'any landing you walk away from is a good landing'.

I would suggest that the small end bearing was the first point of failure here, I know it's only a moot point though.

The motor looks like a write off to me or at least big rebuild, crankcases are machined as a pair, new crank, piston(s), ooer, etc..........

Good luck with it and I'm glad you escaped with only wallet damage (and a pinch mark in the seat!).

That is one serious seizure, I've blown up a few engines before but nothing like that!

I wish you luck with the rebuild Edgar (assuming you are going to rebuild the bike?) I would try to find out what caused it to seize in the first place though.

yes i will try to get another engine,running or not just to bring the bike back to the road where it should be.
