DP F250 - where are you all?
Hi there, my first post but a couple of you know me.
So, where are all the KR1's (and KR1S's) in what was once the KR Cup?
I've seen a couple of green bikes in the paddock, but that looks to be as far as they're going these days
So to hopefully whet your appetite, here's a little gallery of the F250's at Anglesey on Saturday 5th June, you'll no doubt be happy to hear that an NSR250 (but not mine ) won both races, and one of the races on Sunday too.
All the pics I have from F400 here too.
Points after Anglesey here.

Hi yer Fonty, long time no see.
I might just venture out for a meeting or two, missed it like hell for the last year and a half but I only seem to have the spare cash when I'm too busy working or the spare time and no cash when I'm not busy working

Has anyone who races got a list of sprockets to use at each track while retaining the 18in rear & using a standard gearbox?
Tracks I race at as follows
Brands GP,
Brands Indy,
Cadwell Park,
Oulton Park,
Pembury,
Snetterton,
Think Iv'e have been gearing it to high
Thanks Gary

Sorry I can't help as I haven't run a stock box for so long I can't remember.
Generally gear it so it is hitting 12,500 on the Tacho at the fastest point on a circuit.
12,500 is about 11,250 ~ 11,500 real rpm - Tacho reads high. This should be just past peak power.
At technical circuits like Cadwell it is probably worth gearing for drive out of corners rather than the straights. Sacrificing a bit of top speed is less of a loss than coming out of corners properly.
On a ring-a-ding gearing is very much down to rider - style and ability. A good rider carrying higher corner speed will be able to carry taller gearing.
Also remember some times you will have to use the clutch if you can't find teh right gear for a particular corner.

Time for a thought from the (very fast) Freddy Pett who did a remarkable job of being a novice on a fairly stock RS250 Aprilia in 2008;mj43 wrote:On a ring-a-ding gearing is very much down to rider - style and ability. A good rider carrying higher corner speed will be able to carry taller gearing.

Me "at Park Corner (Cadwell) it's either 3rd and go too slowly or 4th and slip the clutch"
Freddy "how about 4th and go faster?"
I can inform you some 18 months later when I found the nerve to brake a bit later, go back to 4th, get off the brakes a bit earlier and throw it in everything worked out fine (most times, ran out of track once but kept it upright), the increased speed there and the subsequent taking of Chris Curve in 5th is worth 2 seconds a lap.
Maybe more as I'm now (after my crash) uttery ghey though the Gooseneck.
As Mark said, gear for the fastest part of the circuit them modify from there but on a roadbox you're probably going to find you need to slip the clutch somewhere.

stock motor and road box with 150 x 18 tyre
Cadwell : 14-46
Snetterton : 14-43 (44 with headwind on back straight)
these worked for me on the day althought I was quite slow.
MJ tuned motor and road box with 160 x 17 tyre
Cadwell : 14-45 (44 if no wind on either straight)
Oulton : 14-46
these worked for me ok and I was quite a bit quicker at Cadwell,
4 seconds (must be the bike) as I am still crap.
have to slip clutch at charlies exit, park corner exit, chicane after mansfield and hairpin at Cadwell.
have to slip clutch at britton chicane (think thats what its called) the one after hairpin at Oulton.
Still working on gearing at other tracks .

Hope you can make it, it is an awesome track where a 250 (if the clutch didn't slip) can match a 400.
This is the long circuit - where we go left after Peel we will be peeling right down the Corkscrew

Gearing same as Cadwell is a good start.
