After finally getting the old girl running smoothly, a rather unpleasant noise has developed. It sounds pretty nasty - really loud knocking noise coming from the guts of the engine. Above 3k it disappears, but under that - particularly tickover - it's feels like the engine is coming apart!! When slowly depressing the kick-start when the engine is off, it can be heard quite clearly. I've recorded the noise - it's not a brilliant recording - but perhaps someone with keen ears might be able to make a diagnosis. Hopefully not terminal!

I'm pretty certain it's your rotor coming lose
if it is, take it off and check the woodruff key before tightning it again

Here's my thoughts from best to worst;
Clutch idle gear bearing.
Clutch bearing.
Crank main bearing.
Hope it's one of the simpler options !!
