How big a job is it to change the mecanical seal any one?

Changing the seal itself is fairly straightforward. Its the hassle of removing bottom fairing, dropping the coolant and gearbox oil out and removing ancillary cables pipes kick starter etc, before removing clutch cover.
You will need the complete seal kit, the oil seal and perhaps a clutch and water pump gasket. You will also need t to make a tool for inserting the new seal into the casting. I used a plastic bit of garden hose attachment!
Once you have removed the r/h cover. its a case of removing the water pump impeller components, prizing out the oil seal, tapping out the mechanical seal - then putting all back together!
I have only done this with engine removed from the frame, so not sure if I have missed anything else out.

I managed to fit the mecanical seal, it went really well the only thing i had problems with was getting the water pump to seal as you can,t buy the gaskit any more it took two atemps but got there in the end. I also took a threehundred cc big bore kit off and put some std barrels an pistons in. Thanks again fot the advice.
