Re: finally started
well here we go again, does any one know an effective way of removing wear from case hardened splines, metal treatment? before i pull the engine apart again. or does any one have a couple of good cranks with good damper splines, its a piece of metal its not gonna beat me, i just can not live with the noise, its gotta be right or not at all

Re: finally started
Doug,
the loctite product I tried here in Australia was Loctite 660. It certainly made a difference but I suspected the noise may have been coming back after a few 100ks. However I think if it is applied correctly and allowed to cure for correct time (I seem to remember I didnt go full cure time!) it might do the trick. Certainly worth a try and not a difficult job to do to an in situ engine.

Re: finally started
well the dejevue feeling again, yes we have wear houston, in the front damper splines, click, click, but i have a nice tube of loctite 660 to squirt on it. kick start mech re checked for set up and ok, crank mains solid no play, clutch ok and nothing fouling anywere. so this must be causing the noise. I hope [-o<

Re: finally started
oh! the foot rests fit perfect, non standard but a cosmetic improvement, but gives her the modern look still not tested the engine, other projects keep getting in the way. eyeing up a nice nsr400 on fley bay at the mo 3k looks a bargain to me!

Re: finally started
Looking forward to seeing the freshly painted bodywork Doug. Is it going to be standard and have you got the decals sorted ? Also, I like the footpegs, definitely gives it the modern touch and for me looks in keeping with the bike.. Like the pegs off a KR250B/C

well the colours gonna be silver, the guy thats doing the paint is not the fastest in the world, but an A1 job, will look like new. as for the decals i have had them for about 2 years now. not putting them under the laquer just in case they bubble.
