Waterpump seal keeps blowing

Hi,

had some problems with the waterpump seal blowing last year. Repaired the seal twice but the problem reappeared after a few hundred miles. For piece of mind I fitted another inner clutch housing with a another waterpump this winter and now after another 200miles it is again leaking water from the drainage outlet passage.

I can't detect any water in the gearbox though.

Has anyone got an idea what might be the cause of this problem?

thanks very much,
Charles

could be your head gasket leaking and pressurising the water system blowing it past the water seal

the water doesn't smell like exhaust fumes though, nor does the bike smoke excessively nor does the water level drop........ still will have another look tomorrow....

thanks,
Charles

I have never had one fail on neither of the KR's i have owned.
Has it been modified in the past to take a larger seal, people do odd things sometimes?

I don't think so (a normal seal was fitted, no obvious changes visible), but to rule this option out I took another waterpump and clutch casing the last time. Will fit a new head gasket as this might be the most likely option.
