Yep, the oil drain plug is on the left hand side of the engine near the gear lever, its on what looks like a stalk sticking out horizontally.

There is no oil filter.

Is there a separate gear box and engine oil sump or are they the same draining it because when I removed the barrel some coolant went inside the crank case

This a friendly forum so you won't get flamed on this one, but two strokes don't have engine oil drain plugs- no oil sits in the sump because the oil is mixed with the fuel. The gearbox oil is kept completely separate.
You could have fun getting that coolant out, how much went down there?

Oil filter is tiny about the size of a model paint tin, have to get the engine out split the cases and it's right behind the gearbox.
Manual explains how to do it

This is a concern...

If you were unaware the KR's are 2-strokes and a dead loss, have you been keeping the engine oil tank filled up?

It's the one on the right hand side under the seat.
