A couple of questions, kr1s

First,
Exhaust gaskets i tryed some that are just a thin round copper
tubing with no luck oil is leaking anyone else used them.
(Have ordered some originals)

Second,
Done an engine oil change today, manual states that there is a
level mark on a kr1 but on my 1s there is not,( or do i need
specticals) i usually top to just over the half way point, put
0.80L in.

you are right paul. on the kr1, it has a mark [line]in the metal casing, and on
a kr1s, it does,nt.
just make sure the bike is upright [not on the sidestand] and pour oil in until
it is half way up the glass. pour in a tiny bit at a time when you get close to
the level,as it takes a bit of time to settle. and the alloy exhaust gaskets
are best

A small amount of permatex ultra copper exhaust sealant helps loads too.

I use it on all my 2 strokes no leaks to report

I have to admit I still fill mine to half way then kick it over 3 or 4 times like it was some sort of four stroke

Old habits eh?

Never had any probs with copper of fibre gaskets but if in doubt, original is best.

Got home from work early today.

Put the kr on the drive to change the gaskets, undone the nuts and middle exhaust bolt had pipe balancing on my foot, cleaned of oil leak, smear of sealer, radio was on then it pissed down with very heavy rain, turned around knocked the nuts out of my reach, got them and put one back on wheeled back in the garge, by which time socket set and toolbox holding rain.

Done the job in the garage and guess what when finished the rain stopped and the sun came out.

There's just no pleasing you Essex lot, first you moan because there's not enough water & you get banned from using your hose pipes, then it rains & you still moan....................

Takes one to know one eh Mr Howie 8-[

Had the same trouble though yesterday - it was nice and sunny so wheeled bikes out of the garage, took engine out of an AR. Stripped it and had parts all over the drive... You guessed it... P@ssed it down !!

Grrrrrr
