banditbob's engine

Post by Luders »

After this poor motor had picked a fight with a courier and lost, Bob left it with me to see what I could do about the damage.

The kips valves were mangled, the lower exhaust studs bent. The main crank case was damaged around the clutch side. Broken clutch star and missing clutch inner case with missing clutch out case lever to name a few of the issues. I lost count of how many bolts, circlips, washers and god knows what else was missing from the poor old thing.

Here's what it's looking like now.

Good luck Bob, hope you're pleased with it.

Is it an S or B model?
Did you do the MJ mods to this engine?

It's an S engine and it's had full bottom end tune as per my interpretation of what MJ showed me and what I do on my own race engines.

I've not done that much to the top end other than a bit of work on the transfer ports. The kips valve areas had already been matched to flow with the valves. The head had already been setup and profiled to 0.75 squish running Vertex DT125 pistons.

I've obviously removed the oil pump and blanked it off and upgraded the clutch springs.

Flywheel is off at the moment ready to be lightened and I think that about sums it up as far as I can remember.

Should have a fair amount of poke whilst remaining reliable.

Thanks to Andy B, he did my seal. I've not phoned them lately, will give it a go tomorrow if I get chance.

Just got off the phone to him and he's saying 3 weeks now, which is the best answer I've had to date, so I'm going to phone back middle of November. =D>
