Hi all new to the forum, but been reading for a while.

Just picked up an KR1 after around 14 years after I sold my first when I was a lad. I fancied a two stroke again and it made sense to get what I knew I liked.

Anyway it has a grumbly crank so I wondered if any of you can recommend a crank rebuilder or have anyone got one to sell? I'm pretty handy so planing on doing the rest of the rebuild/resto myself

Just had my cranks rebuilt at SEP, seems to be a very good job but don't take your barrels there for replating. too expensive for them to replate barrels. £705 for crank rebuild and barrels replated.

Sorry Daz could you break that cost down a bit.
Were they just a straight pair of barrels which were replated or was any repair required?

Straight replate of barrels no damage, supplied my own Genuine kwak pistons for them to match barrels to, Went the whole hog on crank saying that it was new rods, bearings and seals. When i said the price was a bit steep they said the majority of the cost was replating the barrels.

hmmm, replate and hone should account for £300 roughly

Just a thought,
Have you had the motor running?
Reason being is the KR clutches can Rumble when disengaged,more so from cold,pull the lever in and it will go away if it is that.
Just a thought as if you hadnt heard it before it could make you think Crank.
Grampian did my crank,top job,think they used TZ big ends,whatever its held up well on road and track,think it was around the £300 mark.

I've used SEP before they welded and machined a GPX 250 crank for me many years ago, strangely enough it was that bike I swapped my original KR1 for.

I don't think its the clutch as the tone doesn't change when you pull the lever. It was supposed to have had new main bearings before I brought it.

I'm going to strip the top end and have a feel round for play and see if that gives me any answers.

Hopefully its something less severe.
I got that wrong about the clutch,its when its warmed up its worse/noticeable not from Cold.
Best bet to take the top end off as a matter of course,gives you peace of mind.
leave the barrels/head as one unit unless you need to clean the powervalves up.

cris Appleby did mine in kent £365 new rods mains seals an new centre shafts i took two weeks to recieve them back if any help.

I've removed the top end and cannot immediately see/feel anything wrong with the crank but this noise is still bothering me

Can you guys have a listen to this please and see what you think? It does sound worse on the video though.
