KR1/1S reed petal & block equivalents

From a search of this forum and of the internet generally, it seems that certain model KX125, KDX200 and KDX220 reed petals and blocks may be equivalent to the KR1/1S parts.

So far, I have discovered the following:

Reed petal Part No.12022-1057 (from KR1S catalogue) also suits KX125 1984-1988

Reed block assembly Part No.12021-1072 (from KR1S catalogue) drew a blank - no listings.

Boyesen reed petals 607, SSF014 and SSC014 fit all KDX200/220 1983-2006
Boyesen reed petals 677 fit KX125 1982-1988
Boyesen reed petals 639 fit KX125 1989-1993
Boyesen reed petals 642, SSF011 and SSC011 fit KX125 1994

I stopped at 1994 on the Boyesen reeds, as I wasn't sure it was worth listing any further fitments.

The 607/SSF014/SSC014 petals also appear to fit RM250 (1987-1988), CR250 (1978-1987) and CR450/480, although I'm not sure whether the blocks from these bikes would also be suitable for the Kawasakis.

Info from several forum members has suggested that KX125 and/or KDX200 petals and blocks/assemblies are straight swaps, although the actual models were often not mentioned (I think I saw 1991-1993 KX125?).

Can anyone confirm exactly which Kawasaki (or any other make) petals and blocks fit the KR1/1S?

Thanks & regards,
James

Some further research has revealed that:

KX125 1984-1988 reed block assembly is part number 12021-1069, which uses the same petals as the KR1/1S. Will this reed block fit the KR1/1S?

KDX200 1986-1987 reed block assembly is 12021-1023, with petals 12022-1024.
KDX200 1988-2006 and KDX220 1997-2005 reed block assembly is 12021-1067, with petals 12022-1063.
Will either of these two reed blocks fit the KR1/1S? Will either of these two types of petal fit the KR1/1S reed block?

The info from Boyesen suggests that reed petals are interchangeable between all KDX200/220 models in the range 1983 to 2006, despite different Kawasaki part numbers. However, all KDX reeds (both standard and Boyesen) have different part numbers to the KX125 1984-1988 reeds (which should fit the KR1/1S reed blocks).

After all that :-({|= , the question remains: Can any KDX reeds (either the petals or the complete assemblies) be fitted to the KR1/1S? Benefits of experience will be gratefully received 8) !

Thanks & regards,
James

Do your current reeds needs replacing or are you after decent upgrade advice?

I don't know yet (bike still not arrived :( !). However, I like to have all the research done, so that replacements can be obtained ASAP if need be.

During my search of this web-site, I noticed others have offered opinions on Boyesen reeds (although not stating part numbers etc.), which I have taken on board. I have used Boyesens before (on other bikes) and I imagine that there are other aftermarket reed petals available to suit the KR1/1S/KX125, although I don't recall reading about any on this web-site.
Besides my own interest, any info on interchangeability may benefit others who are presently (or soon to be) in need :D .

James

for what it's worth then, I use V-Force reeds for the KDX220.

91 reeds will fit so will 92 (i know as i have them both).
the reed block is slightly different as its designed for an off set carb, the locating slot is off set for the plastic insert (kr is in centre).

Thanks Luders & Dave.

If the KDX220 V-Force reed block fits the KR1/1S, it seems reasonable to assume that the OEM reed block from the same bike will also fit!

Dave, are you referring to KX125 or KDX200, or both? That will be another handy option to bear in mind.

Thanks again & regards,
James

Kx125 :D
The KDX (stock reed block) will still have the plastic infill offset i would have thought as its nigh on the same layout as the KX.
The V force may require slight alignment work to match the KR carb rubber aswell Luders?
Cheers

The stuffers require alterations depending on which carbs you're running, but nothing massive.
