My Bonneville bike - only 3 weeks to go - still a few bits to do but nearly there. On the dyno tomorrow.

did you sort out importing it mark...if your still trying my boss knows a few streamliner guys in the usa that race at bonny...he said he could get in touch wiv em if your still stuck...best of luck to ya......cant wait to hear if the kr1s is in the record books...

I have EPA clearance just need DoT and I have to find somebody to purge the fuel tank.

Bike is totally legal - mot, tax and insured - California here I come (not)

Took the bike out today - it is completely standard other than I have flowed the cases and matched the barrels. Porting is stock - feels quicker than it used to be. Standard it made 50hp on the dyno - it will be interesting to see what the flowing has done.

I am also taking out two sets of race barrels and during the course of the week will up the spec of the bike. I am also tempted to do a trackday at the Miller circuit

Must say thanks to the support from the KR forum - the Liver Cancer trust should do benefit well from peeps on this forum. Shame teh other forums aren't as supportive

As for sponsorship.... Obviously they are worried that the KR is Too fast!!

are you ok to flow the cases and barrels? i thought it had to be bog stock.
your not gonna have some redneck complaining about em if you take the record are you?

mark, do you have to retain std gearing? i guess the relatively high std gearing will be in your favour anyway. im guessing you get a genuine 55hp, possibly 57 given your experience with jetting and general kr knowledge, good luck.

That's a nice looking bike, are you bringing it home with you, or leaving it out there for some pistol slinging yank? Wish you all the best Mark, let us know when/where to send the sponsor money when the time comes.

Internal mods are permitted.

Piccies look better than reality but she is tidy.

Will post the dyno graphs for the motor this evening.

Bike is coming home - though a number have expressed an interest the rules don't allow me to leave it and the potential fines are huge. As I want to go back to the states next year - back she comes. Bit of a pain that as I need to organise that bit of the trip yet.

I think it will make about 56 ~ 57 once jetted. At the moment it feels really strong midrange and flat at the top but that could well be jetting.

Was it Cliff's KR did 125mph at Brunters. An extra 5 or 6 ponies should take it up to 130mph - so as a stocker with tidied up cases and ports it should be banging on the door of the record. Hope the full race barrels with proper porting take it over the 130mph mark.

I don't know how PB ever got 139mph out of a stock bike (well I think I do but it wasn't stock

)

But the USA has a diffrent climate! Will you be allowed to re jet while your there?

Re-jetting is not only allowed it is a must - altitude at Bonny is 4500 ft - not exactly easy to find anywhere in Europe to test.

Not bad would have been happier with one more pony but....
Green is full race - that motor would do 139mph+

Blue is standard as bought.

Red is after flowing cases and matching the barrels - port widths and heights are as stock.

Blue and red are same engine, carbs, pipes, ignition - same bike

wow! the curve that shows the matched barrels/flowed cases is really impressive compared to bog std. who says matching/flowing cases does nothing? ha, wonder what mine (full race) makes hp wise? the full race curve looks impressive aswell, making the as bought curve look flat as a fart!

i remember the test bike that pb managed to squeeze 139mph nipped up and was jetted very much on the edge, probably geared for 50mph in 1st as they had the whole runway for it to pull the gearing. also probably been a test bike would of been very precicesly setup, possibly blueprinted as it came from a kawasaki dealer if i remember rightly, could be getting mixed up with the previous years kr that topped 136mph! the kr was quick from day one tho with the kr1 reaching 131mph while the vj21(early rgv) managed 125mph ish! i reckon the bonnie bike should crack 130 easily with the current setup which is essentially a std bike with cleaned up cases/barrels and jetted properly. as for the race motor..... well that should be quick, cant wait for results!

It looks like flowing the cases etc has made a huge differnence,, food for thought me thinks.
