Replaced the top end today and having problems setting the power valves up. The manual says the servo should turn from Closed position to open and back, mine is doing the reverse going fron open to closed then staying open position? Whats all that about.
The battery is in so that the positive terminal is on the right hand side of the frame, is this correct? Bodged up loom on it as it was once a track bike, no lights etc on it.
Do the power valves open or close for top end power?
Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like the motor has missed its stop point. I've had it happen before where the motor misses the open position and swing past it and hits closed then finds the open switch on its way back. Sometimes you can take them apart and fix it other times they won't work ever again.
The valves should be open for top end power and closed at low revs.

Yep I had to strip mine down and play with it. I did get it to work again in the end but it kept happening and in the end stopped working all together. your best bet in the long run is to source a replacement.rad wrote:Thanks. Not had any off the linkages off, took head and both barrels off together to save breaking any off the power valves.
To try and reset it it do you take the motor of the command swivel, turn the comand to closed then try sliding the motor back on?
Strokers doing my head in at the moment!

They've got a mind of there own now. Started it with them open then after a min or so they closed and stayed closed when I turned it off. When I turned the ignition off/on ( well took battery off on as no ignition barrel ) they turned closed to open back to closed. I'll find out at cadwell on thurs whats happening.

the openning/closing at ignition on is normal. for cleaning ? just to check if they work ? don't know for shure why, but it is normal

it is for the CDI to see when the servo turns, the variable resistor of the servo changes to the right value. This means that the CDI unit can assume that the servo-motor turns. If it doesn't turn, it could be jammed and set the wires on fire.
the cdi doesn't need to know if they work, it's just to go faster and if placed in the wrong position nothing bad will happen. Cleaning is as easy as revving up to 11.000RPMR
the opening/closing at startup is normal, but not after more than 5 seconds.
