Air bubble

Post by fletchndebs »

Hi, hope you can help. started my rebuilt KR1-S up for the first time today, have bled the oil pump but have noticed an air bubble about an inch long in the oil feed pipe after the oil pump, what should I do? Do I just run it on premix until this bubble clears itself? am I right in thinking as its after the pump it will clear itself? what ratio premix should I run?
Cheers everyone

You need to bleed it and check to make sure you don't have a leak.

have you had it running already?

if you have it on tickover and hold the pump in the fully open position
there should be enough oil already in the engine to keep it lubed until this bubble shifts

you will find it will move quickly down the pipe anyway once you hold it
fully open

done it to mine loads of times no problems - don't blame me if you
do though 8-[

Did mine yesterday. Same thing. Tickover and held pump fully open. Still bubbles in the rhs line. Cut story short, I found a slight fracture in the oil line banjo at the oil pump end where the pipe attaches to the banjo itself. Could have been a disaster as it was feeding oil but with same amount of air!!!
Must get another pair of lines. Spare ones anyone?

Keep an eye on it. If it reappears they you have an air leak and the pipes will need replacing.
