cylinder and head repairable?

cylinder and head repairable?

hi just wanted to know if these were repairable a small piece of the exhaust port has broken off and a rather big piece inlet side. also the head is severely damaged here are some pic's.

someone will be able to advise on repair - if not you should be able to
put a liner in

i'm sure there are quite a lot of heads in that condition in use :lol: -

PJ Engineering do VERY VERY good liners for my last KR1-S.

and id happily recommend them if you looking at sleeving a set of cylinders

I've done it with no probs :mrgreen:

the inlet doens't look that damaged, and if the exhaust is less than that, I'm pretty sure (it's not very clear how deep the cut is, but doesn't look that deep) with new nicasil they are ok.

if not : Woessner have one oversize piston's

Yep Seen alot worse heads in use. and that rear boost port is damaged at the bottom so it shouldn't have an effect at all. BDK should be able to get it replated for you, and I would polish out all the high spots in the head with some wet and dry and then have another look at it..

A good second hand head can be picked up for less than £50.

If that head causes Det or pre-ignition the cost will be far greater.

Spend a few more pennies and build it properly. Skimp and it will cost you more long term.

sorry i posted this in the wrong section.

ok i have a few options now i looked on stan stevens web site and he has some occasionally in stock for exchange, im guessing they are refurbished ones not sure how much they are will phone on monday otherwise bdk for a new sleeve. there is a 1s head on ebay gonna put a bid on that as its only £35 at the mo. Thanks to everyone for there help much appreciated.

and it wont cost 50 quid,say 30 delivered....... :D

bdk have barrels on the shelf exchange(just rebuild frog32's bike)i personally dont like liners and the plating was lovely..
spot on and with me the next day....98+vat,well worth the price.. :D

you cant beat a bit of blue haze...
