Been having a scout around the internet for alternative forks, what I have discovered is that the 1995-1998 ZX6R had 41mm forks (same as the KR) but the forks on the ZX6R are - according to this website “41 mm cartridge fork with adjustable preload, 12-way rebound damping and 11-way compression damping”, the only problem I can see at the moment is that the ZX6 has a 20mm spindle rather than the 17 on the KR.
Anyone have any thoughts as to why this would be a bad conversion?

I used the ZX6 yolkes to. stem was to short and to big at the bottom. took it out, cut it in 2, made treads in both parts, made a piece that screws into both of them so it had the right length, and had the bottom reduced so it could take the KR1 bearrings.
but that's all easy when you have a lath like me

might be up fot sale soon, since I bought some CBR600RR forkes on ebay. I'm switching all my 300mm-brake-discs-forkes for 310mm's.
CBR's are also 41mm, use 310 disks and should perform a lot better since they are 10 years younger.
when I got them, I'll let you know if they are a straight fit in KR1 yolkes/wheel. I don't use the KR1 yolkes any more, because off the KR1S wheel : they are smaller and harder to find. If you use other yolkes (ZXR750/ZX6/zxr400) you can use almost any Kawa front wheel, so lot's more choices/cheaper when you crash one .
My ultimate goal is to die young as late as possible !

Pretty certain earliest zx6r (f) shares same front wheel as zxr400, runs a 120 front tyre, so you could stick the whole lot in to match an rgv rear.
One problem I can forsee is that the zxr 400 yokes have wider fork leg centres, would bet that it's the same with the zx6r (common wheel?) Which leads to clearance problems with the fairing mount and fairing itself fouling onto the forks, can be overcome easyily enough but will need more than just a bolt up.
The above is all conjecture and guesswork, so don't take this as gospel, get the bits and start playin'
