Help required with jets/needles

what position is the clip on the needle? after pootling in traffic the plugs can oil up causing the motor to hesitate when initially winding the wick up. it will hesitate for a second or 2(seems more like 10s!!) while it clears its throat. this seems more evident with big carbs and tuned motors. i have always found the kr to do this. maybe worth fitting new plugs and caps. the best are NGK rubber push fit type caps. about 7 quid each.

New plugs just fitted, but no real difference.
This motor 'hesitates' whatever it's been doing. Come out of the power band after a thirty second fast run above 9.5 thou and slow a bit; it still hesitates and you'll have to knock it down a cog or two.

Needles are in second groove from the bottom (on the 130's).

Are the reeds ok? and are the floats sealing? also check to see that the chokes aren't sticking on.

Reeds? I cant say as haven't had 'it' down that far yet.
The floats do shut off the fuel supply via the needles OK as I checked this at clean up stage and the choke rubber insert plungers are doing as good a job as I can see/tell. They do appear to shut off correctly.

No, but can't see this being the problem as it doesn't flood when sat idling or sat not running with tap on 'PRIME' and also when using most fuel (at high RPM) it is fine so ????

when searching after something like this, you need to make sure everything is as it should be, including float-level
one can play with the float-level to make the mixture richer/leaner. if you raise the float-level, fuel is higher and so needs less "sucking-force" to get into the engine
result : for the same amount of vacuum, slightly more fuel is added
so, beginning adjusting the carb's , first thing you do is setting the float-level at standard before you do anything else (ok not the first thing,second thing really
, first thing is to make sure all jets and canals are clean
)

Might be long shot as you may have
sussed it..
BUT...
do you have a tuned engine
barrells...
as if the port heights are incorrect
this will give you this problem
as the port timings seem to be ok
up the rev range..
its either the barrells or the carbs
try swopping the carbs
or a broken reed block valves
or bunged up exhausts
over fueling main jets
as they may need cleaning
you get great globules of fuel
at low revs...thus having this type of
she wants to go but wont..hesitation..

its there ...if you have any good spares
try a swop and see...
but apart from that its carbs ..first
main jet..gets full of crap
you will have to knock it out..
from inside the carb body down through
the bowl end..be careful

then the exhausts...
but check the Barrels
for tuning..

Finally got around to spending some time on the ol' girl. Changed over the carb rubber blocks as mine were a bit perished (for some second hand but OK ones). Lowered needles down to their lowest position (clip in top groove) after several rides out and that seems to be the answer. Goes really well now. Easy ride now which allows it to pull through cleanly to the redline.

Now to cure a leak from the left side of the gearbox which is leaving oil on the pathway. May be the seal around the shift output shaft? Still available? Part number?

I can't stop for long in one place or the oil leak will show too much as the puddle appears!!!!
Nah, must stop it or the gearbox will be running a bit dry. Yeah, I know I can just top-it up (Golden Syrup comes to mind) but the bike deserves it being done properly now!!!
