Blummin Fork Seals

Post by headcoats »

My left fork is forked :(

Well the new seal i put in,i rebuilt the forks last year and they have had no use as i was building the hybrid
I tested then then and they seemed good tight seal etc but today the left seal seems to have let go

Question is will this seal settle a bit when i get the bike finally on the road or is it ferked and i need to put another one in

Can i change the seal without having to strip them again :-({|=

had the same problem with zxr forks but partly my fault. still, another set of new seals later and i got it right!! wasa a right pita arse to fit and had to modify the seals (twice) as wemoto sent me later model seal.... twice! got quite good at it by the time id completed the forks!! i know how you feel though, frustrated is an understatement!!! put tape over the lip near the top of the forks as i think this is what caused mine to piss oil out as fast as it was applied! its easy to damage the thin seal face. good luck with it. im unsure but id bet you will need to strip the fork again.

Update
I went to Cradley Kawasaki this morning and got some genuine seals and found i had enough Fork parts left over to make another left fork :P

So i can quicly change the leaking fork for a new one and do the leaking seal later on.

What fork oil do you use and what is the measurment from the top of the compressed fork with the spring removed for the oil level ?
