faring bracket loose in the frame

Post by duncanoakes »

hi,

another problem,

when i swapped the farings over on my kr1s i noticed that on the right hand side of the bike (when your siting on it), the main fairing bracket that bolts to the frame is loose.
The actual bolts are tight, but the retainers the bolts go into are loose within the frame,

its obviously not normal as the other side is rigid,

is this normal and is there a way to rectify this

I've had this one before, there called riv-nuts. You need to squeeze it tight,I use a high tensile steel m6 bolt & a heavy collar / spacer. Assemble it as if the collar / spacer was the bracket & tighten it a little at a time & keep trying to see if the riv-nut still wobbles, as soon as it doesn't stop . PS it would be possible to over do it & break / strip it . but I have repaired really bad ones like this. Alan
