There is a method in my madness- I took off the genuine fairing and replaced it with the Ard race one from the garden project so I can repair this-

The idea is to repair the fairing and paint in the green/black scheme, expect loads of questions about painting soon :wink:

The wheels are actually in pretty good nick, just dirty :oops: .
They have been painted white in the centre with polished rims, not to my taste but done well so I haven't changed them.
I won't be keeping them on this bike as I have grand plans, I've got an Rgv wheel and r6 shock for the rear and a Zxr wheel for the front, just waiting for reddevil777 to send me the zxr forks to fit it to.

At least nobody noticed the pink anodised valve cap :shock:, I'd forgotten that was still on there :oops:

I've got a box in the garage full of anodised tat I have stripped off bikes over the years, I once owned a red Zx7-r that was smothered in purple- Fasteners, grips, seat- you name it, a real taste free zone. Made the bike nice and cheap to buy :D

Thanks Jan, they are the gsxr calipers, mine are K1 I think.

They need adaptors but otherwise bolt straight on.
You will need the suzuki mounting bolts or you could go bling and fit titanium ones like I have (the only bit of bling on the bike, it's for go, not show)
I also tried Fireblade Nissins-

These require a bit of work to the caliper body otherwise they foul on the disc and the same adapters as the gsxr. Personally I think the 'blade calipers are worth the extra work, I preferred the feel and I think they look better.
Both are a great improvement on the standard calipers and are cheap on ebay.

Wow, this project is flying along :oops:

I've finally started on the bodywork. First up, a race type tailpiece so I can get rid of the pillion pegs etc.
I'm doing it myself for the first time so I am learning as I go.
So far I have learned this about prepping and painting-
1. It ain't easy.
2. I don't like it.
3. It is bloody messy.
4. I don't like it.
5. It is actually quite satisfying to see the finished article.
6. I still don't like it.

It needs a couple more coats and then some lacquer, then I'll bolt it on and put up a couple of pics. At my usual rate of progress that'll be in 2015.....
