cast iron/steel cylinder liners pressed in - alternative option to reconditioning electrofusion plated bores
so those barrels got liners pressed in now? Jim, the previous owner, advertised the bike as having one damaged barrel which only needed needed a replate. But replating a cast iron/steel cylinder liner is not the way to go, I think ](*,)

Huhm, no, it's pretty f*cked up, I don't know what they did with this bike but I think it were a bunch of, we say in Dutch, "beunhazen"...

But as I understand Charles well, it is not possible to replate it with, for instance, nicasil?

As long as they havnt been fitted with sleeves, most barrels can be repaired (gouges in surface filled with weld then machined true) and replated. Hard to tell from the pics, but I get the impression that they havn't been sleeved, and so could be repaired.

no sleeves, they just put the O-rings in the barrels and not in the head.

shouldn't make any difference though .

make sure you use "VITTON" O-rings, as normal O-rings can't take the heat off the head. Vitton rings can withstand much higher temperatures.

apply bond gasket on the barrels outside the o-rings to seal the water. I also always apply a very little bit off bond gasket on the O-rings themselves. that way they will never stick and you can re-use them x-times

Ok! Well, that would be nice. I'll go to powerseal next week to get a second opinion and if it's all right to get them fixed.

@Charles, thanks for your offer, I hope I won't need them;)
