i would like to flow the cases on the kr1s before brands 90s day and have looked through all the threads so my question is (forgive me if im going over old ground but i need to be sure, its a problem i have) what sort of time scale will it take and are there any pitfalls to watch out for, do i need new crank seals or other parts for the rebuild, have got some jb weld but will one pack suffice. cheers

right, time scale depends on what gear you have, esp the cutting bits. it pays to get quality burrs.carbide cutters. for finishing of, giving the nice textured finish you want a tin of wd and the grinding stones. various shapes is ideal for hard to reach areas. jb weld/devcon or similar is needed, the more you spend the better the quality of course but look to spend about a tenner or just less on decent epoxy. its easy to go through to the threads on the cases, its quite close to where you will be cutting so be aware of this. i know where it is but its hard to explain where. on the roof of the inlet you will grind away that horrid step, where it meets is about where you can go through the material. it can be rectified with epoxy but be careful with the runny stuff as it can run into the threads. i ended up putting a well lubed bolt through and get turning until i was satisfied it wouldnt stick. it can be avoided though if you dont cut too far along that edge. at the top you will fill the two slots. approx 2/12-3' away you will find the thin area. up till that point you can safely cut so that you get a nice flow path into the transfer entry. look at the other threads to see whewre to apply the epoxy but when your finished you will be pleased with the results and immedietly see how hp can be found. be sure to key the area thorough and degrease before using epoxy. a weekends work if you have it stripped. patience pays ie 5-10mins cutting and walk away for a fag/brew. too easy to cock it up. im sure you will be fine, good luck
