crank seals gone?

Post by lt_kr1 »

Hi all,

noticed that my KR 1 was spraying oil from one end can, had a sniff of the gear box oil and detected some fuel, does that mean crank seals are gone?

Also, bike won't start now, when I try to kick the engine over, there is a resistance, does that mean oil's filled up the cylinders and I have to take the engine apart?? Happened literally overnight, was working fine one day, the next day I tried to start her and just wouldn't do anything.

Any ideas??

Try taking the plugs out & kick start her again, have someone hold a rag a couple of inches away from the cylinder head to catch any oil. If you have oil squirt out of the plug holes, then no resistance on the kick starter then yep oil is being sucked into the cylinders!

Bottom end service needed I would say?

And also if you do still get resistance, don't try kicking the engine over again, you may end up causing more damage, if say the crank is on its way out!
