I bought some second hand replacement power valves an while back, for my KR1s.
Upon installing them I have noticed they have had 0.5mm removed from the top as per pic.

Would I be ok installing them or would it be better to get some 0.5mm aluminum shims made up?

I'd just fit them, shim isn't necessary. All the valves I've seen so far never aligned 100% to the top of the barrel. I would make sure all 4 valves have the same amount of space left.

place a shim on them.

they probably come from a tund engine, where material has been taken off from the head or barrel and so there was less space.

if you don't, the KIPS can move up/down for 0.5mm meaning it won't be in line the whole time.

Thank you Charles & Jan. I was thinking as Charles suggested, but I have three modded valves and one standard! So to balance up, looks as though I will have to get some shims knocked up.

Thanks for your help guys
